Dear Sir or Madam,
I’m a student from China and I’m writing to call your attention to the endangered animal—Chinese Alligator.
Chinese Alligators are in danger of dying out because of human activities. Some people are hunting them for money without mercy. What’s worse, their habitats are being threatened and polluted. As a result, their numbers have decreased rapidly, and only less than 200 remain at present.
We sincerely hope that WWF can play a role in protecting this endangered species. Firstly, could you help call on more people to protect them? Also, I wonder if you can help us build a reserve for them. Your efforts will surely make a difference.
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours Sincerely,
Li Hua

Text 1:
W: I really want to move. It takes me two hours to my company every day.
M: It’s true, but it’s not easy to find such a comfortable and big house.
Text 2:
W: But it’s the White House. The president and his family live there. Probably we can only see a couple of rooms.
M: Not really. The guide said he would take us through many different rooms.
Text 3:
M: Would you mind if I borrow your car? I have to go to the post office.
W: You’d better not drive a car or ride a bike on such icy roads. Walking is a better choice, I think.
M: Yeah. You’ve got a point here.
Text 4:
W: I really enjoy cooking a meal and watching my friends enjoy it. How about you?
M: I don’t like cooking so much. It takes up too much time and I really hate having to clean up after the
     meal.
Text 5:
W: How do you spend your evening?
M: I usually meet some friends and we play sports together or I might spend some time alone on my hobbies. But I usually watch TV in winter and take a walk in summer.
Text 6:
M: Excuse me? How can I get to the National Bank from this park?
W: Walk up this street until you get to the first set of traffic lights. It’s about 150 meters perhaps. Turn right at the traffic lights. Then keep walking for about 500 meters until you reach the National Museum.
M: OK. Where do I go then?
W: You’ll see the National Bank near the National Museum.
M: Got it. Thank you very much.
Text 7:
W: Hey! The music you played just now is the best I’ve ever heard.
M: Thank you for saying that. Actually, those songs were sung for the first time today. I wrote them in the past two months.
W: Oh, that’s amazing! Are you a regular singer in this bar?
M: You can say that. But once in a while my band and I also sing in several other places.
W: Cool. Your guitar skills are great. How did you learn to play like that?
M: I became interested in guitar at an early age. Afterward, I taught myself by listening to some records of top players.
W: Wow, that’s unbelievable! You play so well, but you’ve never been to a real teacher. You will surely be famous in the near future.
Text 8:
W: Steven, shall we go shopping on Saturday?
M: Hum...Why not Sunday? I hate going shopping on Saturday because there are so many people.
W: But there is no difference between Sunday and Saturday.
M: Hum. Actually I need a day to relax after a week’s work.
W: I see. We will go on Sunday then.
M: By the way, what kind of stores do we need to go to?
W: Clothing stores first, of course. Then we need to go to the butcher’s shop and buy some chicken.
M: Let’s also go to the jewelry store to buy you a necklace. We will be married for seven years next month.
W: Thank you, darling.
Text 9:
M: Hi, I would like to buy a one-way ticket to Brussels, please.
W: Certainly sir, this is our train schedule. We have an express train leaving every morning which takes about 6 hours, and an overnight train that leaves at 9:00 pm.
M: How long does an overnight train take to get there?
W: About 12 hours. We have tickets for soft seats and hard seats on the express train. If you like, you can choose a sleeper on the overnight train which is a bit less expensive.
M: Yeah, I think I’ll take a sleeper, for I can lie down and sleep at night. Do you serve food on the train? 12 hours is such a long time!
W: Yes, of course. There is a dining car where they serve meals at all times.
M: Great! I’ll take it.
W: Here you are, sir. Your train leaves from platform No.2 at 9:00 pm. Remember to be here at least 30 minutes earlier or else you might miss your train!
M: I understand. Thank you very much!
W: Have a great trip.
